Anyone who loves the great outdoors will want to go to The Outdoors Show , which is taking place between the 17th-20th January at London ExCel from 10am-6pm (7pm Saturday). You will get to experience a range of activities from rock climbing and slacklining, to a gruelling assault course. There will also be a farmers' market where you can buy artisan breads, regional sausages, and local cakes, plus over a hundred stalls with exhibitors ranging from food companies such as The Cheshire Cheese Company , charities like Dogs' Trust , and sports organisers, including IPG Paintball .

Talks

Expert speakers will be giving free talks over the weekend. These include discussions on landscape photography, a history of Mount Everest, lessons on map reading, and advice on turning your passion into a career.

Sports

Have you ever tried slacklining? Ever heard of it? If you have, you're more informed than me. Apparently, slacklining is the art of performing freestyle tricks on a bouncy rope. At the show, you can expect to see demonstrations, and even have a try at it yourself.

If your balancing skills don't quite sound up to the challenge, then there is always the Climbing Village - at least that way, you're strapped to something. There you will be able to climb different walls, including an Ice Wall, a Sky Boulder, and the Crazy Climb. You can also sign up for a workshop.

Then, to get a flavour of life in the armed forces, take on the Royal Marines Assault Course. It is the ultimate test of physical endurance, mental ability, teamwork and leadership skills. You will be challenged with fire and manoeuvre exercises, minefield extraction, and casualty evacuations. If you think you have what it takes, you can even sign up for a weekend in Operation Commando .

And if that isn't enough to wear you out, you can really get your money's worth. One £16 adult ticket (£13 for seniors & students, with children going free) not only grants you access to The Outdoor Show, but also to The Active Travel Show , The London Bike Show , and The London Boat Show . Tickets can also be bought on the day for £20 adults or £15 seniors & students.

By the end of the weekend, you'll be shattered.
