The American Museum in Britain and the Eccles Centre for American Studies at the British Library has teamed up to shed light on the the National Lampoon and US Satire in the 70s as part of the British Library's Comics exhibition programme. On Friday 30 May 2014 between 6.30pm-8.30pm, Ellin Stein, author of That's Not Funny, That's Sick: The National Lampoon and the Comedy Insurgents Who Captured the Mainstream, explores its influence on American broad comedy and its continuing relevance. The National Lampoon was originally a sharp, satirical magazine that captured the political and cultural transformations of the 1970s.
