Boy meets girl. Boy loses touch with girl. Boy and girl are reunited twenty years later. Boy and girl have a thirty year long relationship. Sounds like a typical love story, right? But this is no ordinary love affair.
Based on true events,
The Mistress Contract is a about an unconventional couple, where 'He' provides a 'home and an income', and 'She' provides 'mistress services'. On the surface it sounds like long-term prostitution, but this arrangement was conceived by a woman who was part of a feminist movement. Is this a betrayal of her beliefs or a brave and radical act?
Written by Abi Morgan, who used diary entries and recordings from an anonymous woman on the west coast of America, the play is being performed at The Royal Court Theatre until the 22nd March. Tickets to the show cost between £12-£32, while the memoir can be bought from their
online shop for £7.50.
