Does your house lack personality? Are you trying to find something to make it stand out from the crowd? Then why not make it modern with something vintage? However contradictory this might sound, going for funky designs from the past can make a place look more stylish than whatever is currently on trend. Why? It's more unique; it's not something you're going to find available in any old department store.
So where exactly are you going to find it? How about Lords? No, I'm not talking about the House of Lords - although, admittedly there is probably some pretty old stuff there - I'm talking about Lord's Cricket Green. I'm not joking; it may sound like the most improbable places to find a furniture sale, but on the 12th May, the stadium will be flooded with dealers at the Midcentury Show. Early entry starts at 9am for £10, but you can get in for £7 if you wait till 10am, or £6 if you book in advance.
Everything can be bought, leased, or ordered on the day, and while you're not looking at the furniture, you can take in the stunning views of the grandstand, and the first aluminium, semi-monocoque building, which is fitted with two boatyards. If you're lucky, you might even get a sneak peak at some cricket practice.
