If you are looking for something novel to do on a cold, wet and windy day (aka as a typical day in England !), whilst still within an arm's reach of a hot drink, then look no further. Ludoquist has the perfect solution- a board game cafe!

Located on Croydon High Street, this little gem was introduced to us by our teenage daughter who had gone there a few weeks ago with some friends. That she had so much fun and wanted to go again, coupled with the fact that she thought it wasn't uncool to get her parents along as well, speaks volumes for the kinds of age ranges the cafe caters to!

One has to book in advance. It costs £5 per person to play as many games as you like for 3 hours (If they have space you can play longer). Kids are half price! (up to age 14). There are comfortable seating arrangements of various sorts- couches, window seats, dining style chairs. The games are all referenced and live in various shelves all over the cafe. The website boasts of having 1400 games in store and I can quite believe that, looking at the place.



We were 4 of us and and started off with Bananagrams. In the pic, you can see a game well in progress.

Following that, we moved to Linkee (my new favourite game !) and then finally the 5-second rule. The games are divided into various categories- quick ones, long ones, kids, groups, Adults etc.



Oh, and of course, the cafe part of it. The cafe does some nibbles, hot food, soft and hard drinks. The husband and I chose a bowl of nachos and salsa costing £2.50, whilst our girls went in for a more hearty option of smoothies and paninis. The staff came across as friendly and relaxed and that kind of atmosphere was evident all through the cafe as motley groups were seen just chilling out with their mates.

I would be surprised if you didn't find the board game you were looking for the collection was indeed vast.

So, if you are looking for something to do that's fun, not too pricey and doesn't involve braving the elements, try Ludoquist. Their toilets are squeaky clean too!
