The splendour of The Vyne in Basingstoke is filled with history both inside its walls and on the grounds outside. The Tudor mansion has been an impressive building, housing lords and ladies for five centuries. If you're exploring the historic walls with your children, then the Vyne's family trails are a perfect opportunity to learn something about the old manor, while enjoying the stunning collections housed within its rooms.
From February 10th, there is a new family trail available at the Vyne - The Lost Tapestries Family Trail. Your map will lead you all over the Vyne's grounds to find and collect jigsaw pieces, which when put together reveal a tapestry currently housed within the Vyne undergoing conservation.
You can pick up your trail map from the reception. From there it's up to your keen-eyed explorers to keep their eyes peeled for the tiny treasures hidden all over the grounds. All the locations are located along the Vyne's gravel paths, so the family trail is wheelchair and pram accessible.
The Lost Tapestries Family Trail is free, but regular Vyne admission prices do apply. There is a recommended donation of £1 to complete the trail and all money raised goes towards the conservation of Vyne's collection of tapestries.
