Tis the season of ghosts and ghouls and where better to kick off Halloween than at the house of horrors that is the London Dungeon. The home of torture has been converted into a Halloween themed fright fest that runs until the 31st of October.
The Halloween theme is an added attraction to the dungeon that is guaranteed to shock and frighten. Built up around the dungeons long running themes and rides Halloween at the London Dungeon gives you a great excuse to head down again if you have already been or finally go for the first time.
The ancient torture chamber around the entrance has had a cryptic forest built into it with "clawing bony branches" that set the scene for the rest of the tour. After making your way past the first mumbling witch who I promise will make at least a few of you jump, various members of your party will be tried for witchcraft and handed the very just punishments of drowning and hanging.
To add to the seasonal fright festival the dungeon offers up its usual and long placed themes of London's most notorious including; Sweeney Todd, Jack the Ripper and the London fire with the showpiece hanging that tops off a day of gore. A group of talented actors and mechanical rides bring the dungeon to life and give each individual room a plethora of frights.
It is probably advisable that you avoid taking children who are too young or are easily frightened considering I genuinely found myself letting out short gasp occasionally and heard my fair share of full on screams. The Halloween theme runs until the end of the month but if you can't make it the dungeon is still a fright-fest year round. Book on their website for cheaper tickets.
