This free social event from the mental health organisation, 42nd Street, is all about helping the people of Manchester increase their wellbeing.
The
Knowledge Bar is an event with a difference, designed to improve the lives of people in the city. The organisers have planned a day of talks, workshops and activities. Open to anyone who would like to attend, the idea is that the day's activities will help you improve your wellbeing through creativity. The day includes talks from health professionals about how to cope with stress and improve your life. There will also be food and drink tastings and workshops filled with creative activities to take part in. This is an innovative idea - the use of an arts programme to improve health is a great way to help anyone experiencing mental health issues.
This event is part of The Horsfall's creative programme. The Horsfall is a creative venue run by 42nd Street, which runs events and programmes throughout the year to help improve the mental health of young people in the city. Through programmes centred around art and nature, the centre aims to help individuals live a better life. The idea for the event came from the history of the area. The Ancoats Art Museum, set up in the 1800's, was started by Thomas Horsfall who filled the museum with beautiful objects. Local people were encouraged to socialise here, take part in art classes and share ideas in an attempt to improve community wellbeing. This was a forward-thinking programme for its time which is being mirrored today with the Knowledge Bar.
During the Knowledge Bar event, you will be able to try delicious mocktails from
Vintage Cordials, and learn how to roll sushi with Sahabat Boat Cafe. There will also be talks from
The Clutter Fairy UK giving tips on how to declutter and organise your life, to create a calming space. This is a great social event with the aim of teaching you tips along the way. It is also a great, welcoming place to meet new people, share your experiences and learn new things.
Taking place on
Thursday 18th January between
6.30pm and 9pm this event is
free to attend. Small donations are welcome for the refreshments on offer. Come along for some calming, creative fun.
