Former Europe guitarist
Kee Marcello begins a six-date UK at
Robin 2 in Bilston on October 11, 2018. The 58-year-old and his band will also perform in London, Merthyr Tydfil, Stoke-on-Trent, Manchester and Glasgow.
Kee is best known for his years with
Europe whose mid-80s mega-hit
The Final Countdown topped the charts in 25 countries. He joined the Swedish band in 1986, replacing
John Norum , when the group was at its commercial peak following the release of
The Final Countdown. In the late 80s and early 90s, Europe sold over 30 million albums and had number one singles in 26 countries, as well as sharing the stage with acts such as Metallica, Def Leppard and Bon Jovi.
On leaving Europe in 1993 he formed Red Fun with drummer Fredrik Von Gerber, a bandmate from his pre-Europe group, Easy Action. In 1995 he embarked on his solo career, releasing the album
Shine On.
The last few years have been varied for Kee with projects such as a top-selling autobiography
The Rock Star God Forgot, the release of the
Live From The 3rd Rock DVD, a hugely successful lead role in a Swedish version of Broadway musical
Rock of Ages, and induction into the Swedish Music Hall of Fame.
The forthcoming UK dates form part of Kee's
Scaling Up tour, which supports his latest album of the same name, and marks his return to the Melodic Hard Rock genre. Fans of Europe will be familiar with Le Baron Boys, a pseudonym Europe used during a now legendary time when the band were working on follow up material to their hit album
Out Of This World. Kee will perform material from this era on the tour, some of which also features on his latest album.
This year also marks the 30th Anniversary of Europe's
Out Of This World album and to celebrate Kee will be performing a selection of songs from the album, some of which haven't been performed live since Europe's 1988
Out Of This World tour.
