See Mowgli And Friends In Their New Live Stage Adventure
A touring theatre company is planning to become the "king of the jungle" when it takes to the road with a new UK production of Rudyard Kipling's classic story, "The Jungle Book". Oddsocks Productions has given the magical tale of Mowgli the man cub and his many adventures a new lease of life with a new live stage tour that runs throughout February including a performance at the Lichfield Garrick theatre on Saturday 25 February.
Mowgli and friends are back in a stage show of The Jungle Book
Based on stories from "The Jungle Book" with the help of a big dose of Oddsocks humour, Mowgli's jungle friends, Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther, seek to outwit his enemies including Kaa the python and Shere Kahn the tiger and help him learn the law of the jungle. The heart-warming story, which also features an appearance of the madcap monkeys, includes music and puppetry, together with laughter and excitement in equal measure.

Oddsocks Productions, formed in 1989 by husband and wife Andy Barrow and Elli Mackenzie, sets out to provide a theatrical experience for everyone. Their aim is simply to tell good stories in a fun, informative way while also challenging people's perceptions and the way in which they react to theatre. Andy and Elli combined their classical acting skills with clowning techniques gained whilst working with The National Street Theatre. By 1993 demand for the Oddsocks style of theatre was so great that Andy and Elli embarked upon their first full scale summer tour, "The Taming Of The Shrew", with the support of actor Robert Hardy CBE. This was followed by a second production soon afterwards and since then Oddsocks has toured twice a year throughout the UK as well as the Middle East on a number of occasions.

Kipling's The Jungle Book was first published in 1894 but it was the 1967 animated musical comedy film produced by Walt Disney Productions that really captured the imagination with songs such as "The Bare Necessities". It was the 19th and final Disney animated feature film to be produced by Walt Disney, who died during its production. The film went on to gross more than $23.8 million worldwide in its first release, and as much again from two re-releases. The Jungle Book, which is suitable for children aged five and above, comes to the Lichfield Garrick theatre on Saturday 25 February, from 7.30pm. Tickets priced £16.50 and £11 for children are available online or by visiting the Box Office on 01543 412121.
