The Hambledo in Winchester is the one-stop gift shop as well as a concept store, which has become part of the fabric of the area.
My Auntie lives in this part of the country, and once we'd enjoyed a lazy brunch a couple of weekends ago, she took me to her favourite store: The Hambledon.
I'd been meaning to buy the miscellaneous Christmas gifts, like goodies for my hard-to-buy-for work mates, and she couldn't have taken me to a better shop.
The Hambledon is the adorable shop, in the heart of the sleepy town Winchester. I was like a kid in a sweet shop when my Auntie took me, not merely because I'm somewhat of a gift magpie, but because there was so much to buy.
That's not to say the store was over-stuffed, which I hate. Instead, everything was cleverly and creatively arranged so you could peruse everything at a distance, but upon closer inspection you fell for the intricate detailing on jeans and skirts - or at least I did.
I found chic, but simultaneously quirky womens and menswear, accessories, jewellery, and designer pieces. It was more like a boutique created purely with the local customers in mind. My Auntie seemed to be enjoying the store as much as I was.
A handful of other customers entered as we were having a good rummage, but otherwise it was relatively quiet, and empty. We visited around 1.30 in afternoon, on a Saturday, so I had expected it to be bustling with customers, but as my Auntie reminded me, Winchester is strictly suburban.
Amongst the apparel were home accessories which include kitchen and dining pieces. I'm a sucker for home-ware, and couldn't resist a set of crystal candle holders, as well as a photo frame.
The shop isn't just for grown ups however, there are childrens' toys, as well as stationery and notebooks.
After a successful hour of trying on chic pieces and purring over the goodies with my Auntie, I'd stretch to say The Hambledon has everything you could ever need for presents, celebrations, birthdays, and all things in between.
