I recently had dinner at The Dorchester and it was a truly wonderful evening. After being welcomed by professional doormen, we were lead to the restaurant to confirm our booking. My coat was taken to an out of sight cloakroom while we were seated. The décor was grand and opulent with a distinct Scottish theme. (The Grill is now closed until 5 May 2014 for a refurbishment.)

We ordered a glass of champagne as an aperitif and ordered a starter and main. The sommelier came over to help us with our wine selection and picked an excellent wine to accompany the seafood main.


The food was well presented and delicious. Before dessert, we were given a complimentary course. The waiters were attentive throughout the meal and were on hand to ensure we had everything we needed. The service was exceptional.



For dessert I ordered something which I will describe as a chocolate bomb which I had difficulty breaking into. Nonetheless it tasted great.



And for anyone that's interested, on my way out I visited the ladies where the walls were lined with mirrors complete with individual dressing tables. Absolute luxury!

A wonderful experience overall and I will certainly return.
