The Ghost - Book Review

They're after me

The Ghost is a very entertaining if paranoid making read. It tells the story of a ghost writer who gets the opportunity of life time when he is offered the chance to write the memoirs of the ex-Prime Minister of Britain.

But there is something darker in this new chance, the previous ghost writer, Mike McAra, washed up dead in Martha's Vineyard under suspicious circumstances and the ex-PM Adam Lang is dogged by scandal and suspicion.

Our hero takes the job partly out of morbid voyeurism and partly for the substantial paycheck. We never know the name of our narrator, fitting with his ghostly occupation.

As the narrator digs deeper and deeper in the past, more horrible secrets and connections come to light and our hero gets trapped in a cycle of liars and political power games.

The novel is sharply written and very easy to read - I highly recommend it.
