Buzz, Beer, Food & Great Views
If you're looking for a gastro pub with great views and food then the Founders Arms might just be what you're looking for. Situated on the banks of the Thames and as close as you could get to the Tate Modern Gallery without being inside is this lovely eatery.
I was meeting a colleague and we chose it originally for it's convenient location so it was a great treat to also be able to enjoy the ambience, views and great food.
There was a good lively vibe on a Wednesday lunchtime when I visited with a mixture of locals and tourists. The staff were really friendly and managed to blend being attentive with giving us our space which is not always an easy balance to achieve.
Great river views
Muted colours, bare wood tables and large glass windows looking out onto the Thames and passing pedestrians all create a comfortable feel. There are even thoughtful touches like the basket of blankets that you could help yourself to if you wanted to sit outside.
We decided to sit inside but with the weather still nippy outside it was an easy decision to choose Mac & Cheese from the menu. This traditional feel good home comfort food was given a gastro twist with a crumbling of pulled pork and a fresh salad on the side. If you're a vegetarian and the pulled pork puts you off then you can opt for a tomato and roasted pepper liquor instead.

Tasty Toasted Baguette
My colleague had the halloumi, tomato, rocket and basil sauce toasted baguette. At £6 for lunch in a prime location spot, I thought this was pretty good value. My mac and cheese was also a reasonable £12.50.
The menu had a good selection from sharing plates, to steaks and burgers and interesting sides like the spicy sweet potato wedges or colcannon. If you want to get a good view of what's going on the kitchen, there's an open hatch to can see what's going on.
If the food, views and ambience aren't enough there are a few other benefits at this pub owned by London brewer, Young's. Log on with free wi-fi, try their selection of ales or just stop for coffee and a cake.
