The Finn Collinson Band are launching their new album with an autumn UK tour that visits Birmingham's Kitchen Garden Café in Kings Heath on October 10, 2022. The Threshold features six instrumental and four vocal tracks, covering a diverse range of subjects, from the driving folk-rock of Victorian ghost story Jerry Bundler to the layered soundscapes and sparkling melodies of Big Smoke, inspired by the effects of climate change.

Fronted by multi-instrumentalist Finn Collinson, from East Anglia, the band consists of long-time collaborator Emma Beach on oboes and vocals, Archie Churchill-Moss on guitar and diatonic accordion, and Evan Carson on bodhran and percussion.

Finn, widely regarded as one of the foremost recorder players on the English folk circuit, has been touring with his band since the release of debut album, Call To Mind, in 2019. He champions unusual instrumentation and takes inspiration from a range of traditional and early music. Alongside Finn's own compositions, The Threshold sees the frontman explore fragments of music dating back many centuries, from the baroque sensibilities of Pool's Hole to the title track which charts Finn's influences across three different tunes from three different centuries.

"This music feels like a real representation of the last few years of my life", Finn says. "I'm pleased with how cohesive the album sounds, but despite this, I think you can hear how my musical horizons have broadened since my last album."

Finn is also a founder member of award-winning recorder quartet Aurai and is in high demand as a ceilidh musician, notably with Ceilidh Tree and Stroma. Finn's diverse performance credits include a solo performance with the London International Orchestra at Cadogan Hall and being invited to play in a one-off Baroque ensemble alongside Dame Emma Kirkby, Richard Edgar Wilson and Gail Hennessey. In the folk world, Finn has shared stages with multi-award-winning groups Bellowhead and The Young'uns, and has supported many leading performers, including Talisk, Faustus, Ashley Hutchings, Gilmore & Roberts and Jackie Oates. Finn also performed in the orchestra for the English National Opera's production of Noye's Fludde in July 2019.

Finn says: "I'm very excited to be taking this new album out on the road. I'm really pleased with the new music we've made, and it will be great fun to recreate the album on stage. Connecting with live audiences is one of my favourite things about being a musician and I look forward to seeing friendly faces, old and new during our October tour."
