Experience London's shortest but most exhilarating flights over East London.

The Emirates Air Line , also known as the Thames Cable Car by locals, is one of the shortest flights you will experience anywhere - being that you only travel over a section of the River Thames.

[ADVERT]But have a look at the pictures and you'll see why it is oh so worth it. As the cable cars rise above the Thames it is possible to get stunning views of East London, including the O2 Arena (previously the Millenium Dome), and Canary Wharf (and on a good visibility day, much much further).

Emirates Air Line is much more sophisticated in terms of design than the cable cars you get at ski resorts, but based on the same principle. Although you are up in the air for a matter of minutes, the experience lasts much longer, and best of all, you can pay for it on your Oyster Card. . The only thing you will probably miss on this flight is the chance to buy Duty Free - but you can't have everything.

Built for the Olympics, this is one mode of transport that will long outlive its original purpose, as the smiles on people's faces, evident on leaving the capsules, show that this will probably become as permanent an attraction as that other famous 'flight', the London Eye.

Enjoy your trip, and don't be surprised if once you get to the other side, you want to get straight back in and go back to the other side again.
