Hailed as being the UKs first band to release a punk single and album, the Damned are touring the UK through February with their first new album in about a decade. The Damned will be playing at Southampton's O2 Guildhall on Tuesday 13th of February at 7pm as part of their UK tour.
Back in the 70s, they were the contemporaries of the Sex Pistols, the Clash and the Buzzcocks, and the pioneering punk music of the time was a haphazard and manic music movement that rippled through the UK. With the Damned first release 'Damned, Damned Damned' coming out in 1977, the band have been playing for over 40 years and have released 11 albums over this time period. Album releases have been a little more sporadic from the 90s onwards, with 2018's 'Evil Spirits' their first album since 2008. The band have undergone more line up shuffles than many bands, and their sound (and makeup) has changed and evolved too, but the band is still all about rock and roll.
Supporting the Damned is Slim Jim Phantom, the drummer from 80s New York rockabilly band Stray Cats.
Tickets are £31.25 and can be purchased online from the O2 Guildhall website or via the box office on 023 8063 2601. Under 14s must be accompanied by someone over the age of 18. Wheelchair accessibility is available, but bookings must be made via the box office rather than online.
