I think we all have a certain fondness for our local corner shop. While few of us enjoy the weekly embarkment to the supermarket, popping down to the corner shop can be sometimes quite enjoyable. It might not have the range of a supermarket, but it has all those little essentials that you end up running out of before the next big grocery trip is due. There's the milk, bread, tea, daily newspaper, and that odd treat of cake or chocolate that you didn't go in for, but felt was deserved for your excursion down the street.

Unlike a regular trip to the supermarket where you never know the person serving you, a regular trip to the corner shop will soon have you chatting with the familiar face behind the counter.

When we have our very own corner shop literally around the corner, you might think me a bit mad to suggest you go to one in Bethnal Green. But this is a rather special corner shop. Lucy Sparrow's Cornershop on Wellington Row is a pop-up open between 10am-7pm until the 31st August.



It has all your usuals from frozen pizza to Smirnoff, but it is not a trip to be making if you're low on supplies. Why? Because everything is made of felt: The groceries, the till, the pricing gun. Everything.

It took seven months for Lucy to fill the former derelict store with shelves handmade fuzzy items, making it the fluffiest, furriest shopping experience imaginable'.

All the products are available to buy - although they will stay in the shop until the end of August. If you are unable to make it, you can also purchase online too.
