A real treat from me today, as this is a place that has a dear place in my heart.



Called , this is a pub that serves cheap booze in the most amazing surroundings. In my completely biased opinion, you won't find a better place to sink a pint or two than within the walls of this highly stylish pub. The reason for my completely enthusiastic response is, of course, related to the windows and their unbelievable stained glass images. If these images were in a church or cathedral, people would rightly sing their praises and the internet would be full of their images - the fact, that they sit within the walls of a local pub means they do not receive such accolades, but for those drinking here, it is for their greater benefit.



Pub is a Samuel Smiths pub, which might not mean much to you, but if you are in the know about these things, it will tell you that it is part of a pub chain that keeps the prices low, and generally no-frills (not even a website for the pub), but what it lacks in promotion, it makes up for in value for money, and especially with the atmospheric buildings. wouldn't have looked too different even a hundred years ago in my opinion.



Going back to those fabulous windows, as you can see, they don't focus on typical stained glass window imagery, rather depicting images of famous sporting heroes like WG Grace, and interestingly Florence Nightingale. Now for a little secret - the windows only date back to 1989, but if you promise not to tell anyone, I won't - as they still make for a fantastic pub experience.
