The Algerian Coffee Stores is another long established Soho business. Founded in 1887 they sell not only coffee (a choice of more than 80 types), but also tea (over 120 types), cocoa, drinking chocolate, confectionery and every accessory you could possibly think of for making your hot drinks. These include coffee makers and machines of all types, coffee grinders, coffee cups and saucers and tea pots. You can even enjoy a cup of coffee in the shop if you so wish.
Their choices of teas and coffees are varied and amazing and include varieties you've probably never heard of before. The coffees are sourced from Central and South America, Indonesia, India, Africa, The West Indies, Australia and Hawaii. They even sell Civet Coffee (if you were unaware, the raw beans are eaten by the Civet Cat, pass through its digestive system, and are then collected and roasted). The teas come from India, Ceylon, China and Japan, but also include Black, Green, White, Matcha and Mate teas, as well as specialised tea pearls and balls and fruit infusions. If you want to spoil yourself with something delicious to nibble with your hot drink, you can treat yourself to specialised confectionery such as Italian Torrone, Panforte, Cantucci and Amaretti, sophisticated chocolate bars, genuine Turkish Delight and exotic honeys and spreads.
