'The Alchemist' is located on the top floor of the Trinity centre in Leeds. A stylish bar that offers excitingly different beverages and promises a unique cocktail experience. The lightening is dimmed with the windows illuminated by lights that seem to trickle down like a golden waterfall. On entering you are struck by the vibrant atmosphere that greets you.
The drink options offered at 'The Alchemist' are extensive with something for everyone, they taste amazing and they look fabulous, containing anything and everything from frozen orchids to steaming dry ice. Even watching your skilled bartender prepare your drinks is a spectacle, with some requiring to be stirred in tiny cauldron-like contraptions. I would personally recommend the 'Rose Bud', which is pictured below, as it is both delicious and beautiful. There is also a wide selection of food on offer from Tapitizers such as olives, houmous and salads to main plates including sea bass fillet and Japanese ramen.
On my visit I found that there was a mixed clientele, from students to more mature couples and groups of friends. As a result of this I didn't get the sense that the bar as aimed at a particular clientele but rather provided an environment that appealed to a myriad of ages, social groups and personalities. Personally I would recommend, as a women, visiting 'The Alchemist' with a group of friends for a girl's cocktail night, however there ere plenty of groups of men enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the bar and couples ho ere basked in the romantically low lightening.
The bar can be extremely busy, I was personally kept waiting for around half an hour to receive one cocktail and that is after waiting for quite a while to even be served. Perhaps this was because at the time of my visit 'The Alchemist' had not long been opened and perhaps the excitement of a new venue was drawing in a larger crowd than would generally be expected. My strong recommendation is that you should book a table in advance at which you can enjoy your evening without the relentless queuing at the bar. At your table you can order sophisticated snacks and order cocktails at your leisure. Having your own table from which to order your drinks removes the only hiccup that threatens your visit to 'The Alchemist'. You can book a table through the Membership area of The Alchemist website once you have applied for your Membership card via www.thealchemist.uk.com/apply
