From the outside it looks like a cool watering hole for those who work in and around Spinningfields, but The Alchemist is where Manchester's finest gather. The easy charm and oak wood flooring mirrors the attraction you feel when you first enter an Abercrombie and Fitch store.

The Alchemist is in fact a restaurant that serves delicious food , but it is known for it's drinks . It has a very stylish bar, and with a name like The Alchemist it's not hard to see why. Danny Cipriani was there when we visited, apparently he's dating model Kelly Brook. But it is far from pretentious; while it is a very upmarket venue The Alchemist has an easy vibe that makes it a winner.

[ADVERT]We would have liked to have sat inside, but it was, as always, very busy. There are rarely many free seats inside, but you're welcome to stand at the bar.

Drinks are expensive, but they aren't all served in a standard cocktail glass. We ordered the English Cherry Sour which was served in a traditional glass vinegar bottle. Besides the fancy presentation it was delicious and not too strong. That's not to say they don't have more potent drinks, like their Molecular Madness concoctions and Potions to Share. If you want something softer they also serve non-alcholic drinks under the Alchemist's Apprentice list

With names like Fool's Gold, Agwa Smash, and Wow Woo on their drinks list it's a wonder you haven't already paid a visit and got terribly jolly on their proferred beverages.
