Falling out of bed for 25 years

There were ten in the bed and the little one said 'roll over, roll over.'

I might have fallen out of bed a few times as a child, but I never fell out with this nursery rhyme. I must admit though, that until now, I did not realise (or at least I'd forgotten) that this children's song actually came from a picture book, written and illustrated by Penny Dale. Published in 1988, it is now celebrating its twenty-fifth year, and is just as popular with children now as it was back then.

The commemorate the event, there is an exhibition at The Illustration Cupboard, a unique gallery that showcases literary art in St. James's, London. It is a great exhibition to be shared with the kids; while you get nostalgic, you can pass on one of your favourite stories to the next generation.

As well as original artwork from the book, also on display will be a series of drawings in-progress, and various reference material. Collectors are also in for a treat, as Dale has agreed to put some of her original page spread paintings for sale.
