Show and tell
We've all loved and lost, and everyone knows the old adage 'misery loves company', but how would you feel if your love life was played out, on stage? Would others sympathise, be 'against' you, or laugh out loud at your experience? Local Birmingham writer Birmingham-based writer Tim Jefferies and director Lauren McCarron have created a play - Tell Me About Your Ex - made up of dating stories submitted by the public. The show will be different each night, telling new tales in each performance.

Your stories on stage

Since February (the month of love), the Birmingham public have been penning their stories, opening up and letting the organisers in on what made their previous relationships work, fail, and float along.

If you go along you'll have the chance to offer your stories too. It's the breaking of the fourth wall, and inviting the audience participation that's got my attention. I like to know that a few words from an audience member can turn into a play, and that my input is literally taken into account.

If you are happy to share, brilliant:

"It could be funny, sad, bitter; feel free to share an huge six page story or a one line anecdote. It's all completely anonymous - no subject is off limits and any experience is worth sharing." The Old Joint Stock

I personally think it's a genius idea, and will bring a dose of reality to the fourth wall without all of the theatrics.

It's very much an honest, and humorous look at love, at what does (or doesn't), make the world go round.
