Teeny Greeny is a first-generation planet-conscious company that have created home growing kits for tasty and nutritious microgreens. Microgreens are young seedlings of edible plants such as radishes and broccoli and are a powerhouse of vitamins and minerals. There is even more goodness in these tiny shoots than there are in their fully grown form. They give the human body a flood of antioxidants and polyphenols, and the lovely satisfaction of being grown at home. Once grown, you can snip off your shoots and add them to virtually any meal or dish. I am looking forward to adding some to a risotto.

We are growing the 'Green Vibrations' kit, in the MAGIC FARM IN A BOX. It is a compact but jam-packed growing kit, containing coir, peat-free compost, seeds, bamboo growing trays, a plant mister, a growth-inducing crystal and measuring spoon (amongst other things)! The kit comes with simple and enthusiastic instructions to get you going, and everything you need to create your very own crops of microgreens. This is a perfect and lovely activity to do with children, and the materials are in some ways ideal for smaller hands. Our son loved measuring out the seeds, watching the compost swell with water and labelling the trays. I loved it too, and I am 37!

These beautiful plants will be ready from 7-14 days from planting to plate, and I found the process of creating the greens to be serene and healing. Soaking the compost and planting the seeds was a wonderful experience that felt like an effortless mindfulness exercise. Doing this at the start of a new lockdown has been a godsend, as I now have a positive and vibrant focus whilst I am about the house. The fact that this will feed and enrich my family is even more wonderful. Thank you Teeny Greenies!


Every magic Farm in a Box comes with a growing crystal, and a setting intention card for the planting. A great deal of thought has gone into the process of creating this product, and Alice, Teeny Greeny creator, encourages growers to 'set intentions' for the growing. My intentions are to feed my family and keep my son strong and alert as he grows. How satisfying!



Teeny Greeny are a very world-conscious company, and this is reflected in their growing kits. The compost is all organic and peat-free, and the seed trays made from sustainable bamboo. They also only work with suppliers who are aligned to their values of being responsible, sustainable and ethical. The very act of growing your own vegetables is a positive step, and it is refreshing to encounter a company that are so keenly focussed on the impact of their product on the natural world. With each kit providing enough seeds for many, many yields, they have created an eco-conscious and remarkable product.



As I write, I am willing my radish and broccoli microgreens to grow. They have been lovingly placed in the kitchen, and once germinated, will be transferred to the sunny kitchen windowsill. The instructions for the kit are brilliant, and allow you to utilise whatever space you need to in your home, be it a narrow ledge or a large, dedicated growing space. I am so excited about creating my own food, that I think I may grow just two crops at a time, to spread the enjoyment. Bring on the greenies!
