The 60 best portraits, including the 4 prize winners, of the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2012 are currently on display at the National Portrait Gallery. This prestigious international competition attracted over 5,000 submissions from professional photographers, as well as amateurs and students.

The portraits present a wide variety of themes, styles, and images ranging from formal portraits (like that of a professional pastry chef) to unexpected portraits, such as Jennifer Pattison's study in nudity. The winning portrait, however, received first prize for its unique subject and captivating style. Jordi Ruiz was awarded the top prize for her portrait of a shy-looking Bolivian woman of the Mennonite religion, which typically forbids photography.
The captivating images represent the best of contemporary approaches to photographic portrait art from artists across the world. The exhibition runs until 17 February 2013 with a £2 entrance fee.
