Bring a blanket or pop-up chair and enjoy free local choir
Visitors to Tamworth Castle Grounds will be entertained in style on Saturday 21st July when the Tamworth Voices choir will be entertaining audiences with their contemporary musical style. Tamworth Voices choir will be taking over the Castle Grounds bandstand during the course of the day to provide summer visitors to the iconic Staffordshire attraction with the perfect backdrop to a relaxing afternoon, all free of charge. Tamworth Voices, which adds a contemporary twist on the traditional choir with a wide range of musical styles including gospel, show-tunes and chart hits, was set up by Tamworth Borough Council's Arts & Events team following a successful taster session in 2011.

Demand for the choir, which has more than 70 members, ranging in age from 18 to 75, has grown over the years and now performs to large audiences in top venues across the whole of the Midlands area. Councillor John Chesworth, Tamworth Borough Council's Cabinet member for Culture and Operational Services, said: "Tamworth Voices started with an informal singing taster session organised by our Arts & Events team. We didn't quite expect how successful this would be; dozens of people turned up and Tamworth Voices was born. Since then, the choir has provided people with opportunities to perform across Tamworth and further afield. It's great to see it continue to go from strength to strength. Everyone is invited to enjoy a lovely afternoon of entertainment this Saturday in the stunning Castle Grounds."
Sponsored by Tamworth's Ankerside Shopping Centre, all the concerts are free of charge, so people are urged to bring their picnic baskets and blankets to Tamworth Castle Grounds for an afternoon of music. Performances take place at intervals between 2pm and 4pm (subject to weather conditions).
The remaining 2018 Bandstand line-up is as follows: Saturday July 21 - Tamworth Voices Saturday August 4 - Liquid Brass Saturday August 11 - Tamworth Jazz, Blues, Country, Folk and Roots Saturday August 18 - 58s Blues Band Saturday August 25 - Bryan Brindley & Friends
