Get Out And Enjoy A Feast Of Free Summer Activities
Local children in Tamworth are being given the perfect opportunity to remain fit and active during the forthcoming school holidays with a summer of free sporting activities. Youngsters aged five and over are being encouraged to sign up to take part in an exciting new programme of free sport which is being put on by Tamworth Borough Council's Sports Development Team. The programme of sporting events, entitled 'Playscheme 2017', will run throughout the school summer holiday. The five-week scheme starts on July 31 and will continue until September 1, with a wide range of activities that are all completely free of charge.

The varied programme is guaranteed to have something on offer for all abilities and interests, including swimming, boxing, cycling and tennis. In addition, and new for this year, there will be a range of more unusual activities including wakeboarding, jump Xtreme and the castle adventure golf. Last year's new addition to activities, futsal and gymnastics, will also return by popular demand, making the new programme with a full and varied range of fun activities for children to try. Activities will be taking place across the borough, with venues at the Castle Grounds, Tamworth Boxing Club, Wilnecote Leisure Centre, Planters Garden Centre, Cliff Lakes, the SnowDome, Tamworth Olympic Gymnastics Club, Jump Xtreme in Wilnecote and Tamworth Namco Funscape bowling alley.

Councillor Joy Goodall, Cabinet member for Environment & Culture at Tamworth Borough Council, said: "These activities are always a huge success and are very popular, so I would encourage children and parents to sign up as soon as possible so that they don't miss out. We have been working with sports clubs from across the borough to put together the summer programme, which means we can offer a wide range of events for the five-week break. We hope that children and young people from across Tamworth will find the new programme exciting and sign up to try something they may not have tried before".
Tamworth Snowdome will also be hosting events
Details of all the events can be seen on the Tamworth Borough Council website. Bookings are being taken from Monday 10th July. To get involved or for more information, please contact James Hazlehurst from Tamworth Borough Council's Sports Development team on 01827 709387 or email email@example.com
