Keep the kids fully entertained and busy this summer
A summer of free sporting activities is awaiting children in Tamworth when another exciting programme of events comes to the Staffordshire town during the school holidays. Children aged two and over are being invited to take part in the free sports and activities which have been organised by Tamworth Borough Council's Sports Development Team. The brand new programme of sporting events, 'Playscheme 2019', will run daily from Monday to Friday, throughout the school summer holiday. The six-week scheme starts on July 22 and runs until August 30, with a wide range of activities for children aged two and upwards. And all activities will be completely free of charge.
Plenty of children's activities in Tamworth this summer
The varied programme is guaranteed to have something on offer for all abilities and interests, including swimming, dance, soft play, adventure golf and tennis. In addition, and new for this year, there will be new aqua park activities, paddle boarding, football camp and 'UTX Academy' - offering free running – a discipline that teaches you many moves adopted from other sports, such as gymnastics and break dancing. Last year's new activities, 'That Fun Place' soft play and SMDA Dance, will also return by popular demand. Activities take place across the borough, with venues including Tamworth Castle Grounds, Wilnecote Leisure Centre, Brent House in Wilnecote, SMDA – dance academy, Cliff Lakes and Tamworth Namco Funscape bowling alley.

Councillor John Chesworth, Cabinet member for Culture and Operational Services, said: "These activities are always a huge success and are very popular, so I would encourage parents to sign up as soon as possible so that they don't miss out. We have been working with sports clubs from across the borough to put together the summer programme, which means we can offer a wide range of events for the six-week break. We hope that children and young people from across Tamworth will find the new programme exciting and sign up to try something they may not have tried before".Details of all the events can be found at: www.activetamworth.co.uk/playscheme
