More than 60 stalls are set to ensure that the post-lockdown Food and Drink Festival in Tamworth, Staffordshire, is a mouth-watering success. The newly revamped Tamworth Market is hosting the festival this weekend, with hordes of hungry and thirsty visitors set to descend on Tamworth Castle Grounds and George Street in the town centre over the course of Saturday, October 16 and Sunday, October 17. On offer at the festival will be a range of international street food from all over the world, including Caribbean fusion food, Thai noodles, Greek wraps, Turkish delight and The Biltong Bar with a selection of South African farmers sausage. Other taste-bud delights include Pimm's & Gins alcoholic hot drinks, Glastonbury cheeses, olives, nuts, confectionery strawberry tequila, Cranes cranberry and blood orange liqueur, a selection of ports and a fire bar. Away from the food and drink produce on offer there will be a number of bespoke, handmade craft stalls offering a range of necklaces made with a variety of healing stones and crystals, gemstones, salt lamps, burner incenses.

In addition, visitors can browse a range of clothing including bandanas, jackets from Nepal and trousers from India, while anyone looking to buy early for Christmas can sample a selection of gifts on offer including light up wine bottles, neck warmers, purses, gloves, and festive window decorations. Entertainment throughout the day will be provided by LSD Promotions DJ compere and a host of street entertainers.. Dermot McGillicuddy, Director of LSD Promotions said: "We have more than 60 stalls confirmed for the Food and Drink Festival which gives traders a great opportunity to come and see what a great offer Tamworth has, but also as a footfall driver for all businesses in town to take advantage of after such a difficult year." Councillor Daniel Cook, Tamworth Borough Council's Cabinet member for Economy and Waste, said: "We are delighted to welcome the Food and Drink Festival to the town this week and look forward to seeing new traders offering something different for visitors to try. The renewed market contract has given us the opportunity to develop a new vision for the market that will hopefully give us some of the things people have been asking for, such as a greater variety of stalls and more specialist and niche market events like the Food and Drink Festival. We hope people will help us welcome new and existing traders and give their much-needed support to our small business community."

The revamped market will also work alongside the major Future High Streets Fund development and Gungate project towards the overall vision for an improved town centre in Tamworth.
