Fans of explosive firework displays are counting down the days to Tamworth's free spectacular event oin the grounds of medieval Tamworth Castle . Organisers Tamworth Borough Council are promising to deliver a breath-taking light show to light up the skies above the Castle Grounds on Saturday 5 November. The fireworks extravaganza will provide a great evening of fun for the whole family, focusing around this year's impressive pyrotechnic display which is being set to music from Tom Cruise films. The site will be open from 5.30pm with food stalls and a fun fair, before the fireworks display at 7pm. The free event has become a firm favourite in Tamworth's annual calendar, attracting around 25,000 visitors in previous years, but an even greater surge is expected in this year's attendance with Bonfire Night falling on a Saturday.



As well as the other attractions, there will also be the opportunity for visitors to explore neighbouring Tamworth Castle after dark, with the last admission at 5pm and doors not closing until 7pm. Normal admission prices to the castle will apply. People are advised to walk or use public transport to the Castle Grounds where possible and to arrive in plenty of time for the fireworks as some footpaths around the area will close during the display for safety reasons. Parking will be free from 5pm at all Tamworth Borough Council car parks. In addition, nearby Tamworth Football Club are opening their car park. This year the main Castle Grounds lower lawn arena and nearby black gates will all be opened up to assist the flow of people, but pedestrians are asked to be patient when waiting to cross bridges. Some roads and footpaths around the Castle Grounds will be closed, or partially closed, for safety reasons during the display and until crowds have dispersed.



Councillor Robert Pritchard, Deputy Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, said: "We are delighted to be able to host such a large event for the 13th year, free of charge. We are lucky to have the resources and facilities to make it all possible to deliver an amazing display of pyrotechnics and entertainment. We're hoping for another successful fireworks extravaganza. I hope lots of families come along to the Castle Grounds and enjoy the celebrations."
