From Status Quo frontman to TRextasy as theatre re-opens
Legendary Status Quo lead singer Francis Rossi will be heading the line-up as Tamworth Assembly Rooms in Staffordshire re-opens its doors following the coronavirus lockdown. Francis, who is also co-founder and lead guitarist of Status Quo, will be presenting an intimate evening of chat and music when he appears at the Tamworth theatre on July 2. The rock 'n roll band, founded in 1962, has achieved more than 60 chart hits in the UK, including "Rockin' All Over the World" and "Whatever You Want" - more than any other band. Tamworth Assembly Rooms has been closed for more than a year due to the pandemic, but staff have been busy preparing for the safe re-opening of its doors to visitors, audiences and performers alike. The theatre has been working hard to make the venue Covid safe, including the installation of plastic screens to separate open areas, a mobile app for ordering drinks at the bar to prevent queuing, and reduced capacity of 75 per cent for the first run of shows.

The first live show earmarked for the Assembly Rooms since the easing of lockdown is on June 27 when Britain's Got Talent finalists the D-Day Darlings take to the stage. They will be joined by the D-Day Juniors and the 2019 Britain's Got Talent winner, Colin Thackery, for an evening of song, including classics from the D-Day Darlings and favourites from the World War eras. Tickets for the show are now on sale, along with many more performances over the coming weeks and months. As well as Francis Rossi, theatre-goers can also enjoy the likes of tribute act The Best of Take That on July 8; Soul and Motown classic tunes on July 27 with Soul Train, and West End stars from Les Miserables when The Barricade Boys take to the stage on August 5. Other forthcoming shows include tribute act 'MJ The Legacy' and , pianist 'Boogie' Williams performing the hits of rock and T.Rextasy for an evening of glam rock.
