Lobbying is a £2k billion industry in the UK. Writer, campaigner and political commentator, Tamasin Cave will talk about the tactics lobbyists use to bend the government to their will and manipulate academics, scientists and front groups to spread their messages.
Tamasin Cave is one of the directors of
Spinwatch , a non-profit organisation that investigates corporate PR and lobbying in the UK. Her new book,
A Quiet Word: Lobbying, Crony Capitalism and Broken Politics in Britain, co-authored by Andy Rowell, centres on this dark and little-understood corner of our political culture.
The talk will take place at The Vines in Liverpool on 21 September at 19:30–22:00.
This event is hosted by the
Merseyside Skeptics Society . The event is free, although donations towards the cost of travel for speakers would be appreciated.
As with all MSS speaker events, there is wheelchair access, via a portable ramp which can be installed on-demand. If possible, please let the organisers know you're coming (contact @merseysideskeptics.org.uk) so they can have the ramp ready.
