The annual
Santa Run organised by Do It For Charity is scheduled for the 7th December in Victoria Park.
It is suitable for all abilities, and since it is the 'taking part' that counts, it is not a race, so you can choose whether to walk, jog, or run, the five or ten kilometre course. Everyone who participates, gets a free Santa suit to keep. Registration is £22 with a pledge to raise at least £100 in sponsorship.
As many as four thousand people are expected to take part, and the only tough decision you have to make, it is which charity you are going to support.
Do It For Charity have recommended their Six charities of the year:
Great Ormond Street Hospital -The leading specialist hospital for critically ill children
Alzheimer's Society - The leading charity in the fight against dementia
Mind - Mental health charity
Royal Marsden Cancer Charity - a world-leading centre providing care and treatment for cancer patients
Make-A-Wish Foundation - A charity that makes wishes true for critically ill children
Barnardo's - a charity supporting the UK's most vulnerable children
These are not the only charities you can support. There are
hundreds which you can choose from . If you don't have specific charity in mind, but is a particular cause you would like to support, you can also filter through the categories, such as Animal, Environmental, Children, Cancer, etc.
