No one knows exactly what the future has in store, but with climate change and all the other environmental issues we're currently facing, things look rather bleak. Something has to be done, and the planet's future is ultimately in the hands of the new generation. We are the ones going to be facing the brunt of all these environmental disasters, so it is important that we do something.
People & Planet are encouraging all students to come to their Summer Gathering at Hogacre Common between the 1st-5th July. The student-led movement is looking for enthusiastic, passionate individuals campaigning to end world poverty, defend human rights and protect the environment.
If you want your voice to be heard, then the Summer Gathering will give you all the training you need to start a campaign, gain supporters, and make change happen. Tickets cost £65, but if you can't afford it, some student unions will provide you with funding.
The week will include media training, climate movement speakers, advice on planning for the year ahead, campaign film-making masterclasses, and talks about building a fossil free UK. There will also be plenty of time for fun, with a bonfire, talent show, and ceilidh dancing.
The first day will begin at 5pm with a welcome introduction, veggie dinner, movie night, and merriment around the bonfire. Be sure to pack your own tent and sleeping bag.
