Castle grounds coming alive to the sound of free music
A programme of free summer bandstand concerts in Tamworth Castle Grounds is now in full swing.
The lively weekend concerts will continue to delight and entertain shoppers and visitors to the historical market town of Tamworth throughout the summer until Saturday 22 August.
Sponsored by the local Ankerside Shopping Centre in Tamworth, all the concerts are provided free of charge, so bring your picnic baskets down to the Castle Grounds for an afternoon of music, between 1pm and 4pm, subject to weather conditions.
The Jays who kicked off the summer bandstand concerts
The summer programme kicked off in toe-tapping style when local vintage group The Jays took to the bandstand on Saturday 4 July with their distinctive show-stopping style of 1940s and 1950s hits over the course of three performances on the day.
The first weekend of bandstand concerts was rounded off with performances by the Wilnecote St John's Band on Sunday 5 July.
Visitors to the picturesque Castle grounds will continue to be treated to a range of music for all tastes, including brass, wind, classical, jazz, swing and blues, all performed from the bandstand.
