This Saturday is a train lovers dream with a special event taking place at East Lancashire Railway. Calling all railway enthusiasts to the station, this is one event you will not want to miss.
Get ready to marvel at the extraordinary and impressive Swiss engineering with a day of celebration at the Railway. The day is for train lovers and enthusiasts to take a look at all the Sulzer locomotives in this diesel themed day. The East Lancashire Railway has one of the largest collection of diesel locomotives, why not spend the weekend marvelling at this historical collection. This is your chance to take some pictures of these impressive trains and enjoy a relaxed day by the railway. The locomotives you will get to see on the day include the Class 47 D1501 and the Class 33 109 'Captain Bill Smith'.
Taking place on
Saturday 13th January 2018 between
10am-4pm this is an afternoon perfect for train enthusiasts.
There are a range of tickets available allowing you access to the railway. You will be able to travel to all the various stops and visit some of the nicest areas in the North West on your travels. The best ticket to get is a freedom of the line ticket which will give you unlimited access all day:
Adult: £15.50
Child: £9.50
Concession: £14.00
Family (2 adults & 3 children): £39.50
The East Lancashire railway is a heritage railway located in the North West of England with stops at Bury, Heywood and Rawtenstall. It has been used in many films and TV programmes so you may recognise parts of the railway from the big screen. Running for over 12 miles the line has stops in some of the most beautiful and picturesque areas. This event makes for the perfect day trip as you get to ride the railway, see the historic trains and visit different places, you can really make a day of it. The railway is preserved by volunteers and attending an event helps to keep the line operational.
