If you're looking for something a little bit different then take a trip west to the Teddington/Twickenham borders and visit
Strawberry Hill House, the amazing Gothic Castle that Horace Walpole built there.
The house design is based on the architecture of Gothic cathedrals and abbeys and as the rooms are mainly empty of furniture, you can really appreciate the intricate decoration, colours and stained glass.
Visit by night with a knowledgeable guide and a glass of prosecco and be blown away by the crimson and gold of the state apartment, or visit by day to appreciate the stained glass and ornate ceilings in all their finery.
