Every third Wednesday of the month,
Fort Nelson hold a
storytime event for families with young children. Each interactive storytime takes on a different theme and allows children with opportunities to fully immerse themselves in the theme through stories and play. For the past few months, the storytime sessions have been travelling the globe, with the past four storytime sessions focusses on France, India, Japan and then England. On January 17th, the theme is
Incredible Italy.
The storytime sessions will include two stories and will also feature specially chosen toys that are inspired by the theme and designed to inspire creative play. Focussing on
Incredible Italy, the stories may see children learning about gladiators in the Colosseum, mask making in Venice, or feasts of pizza and pasta.
Storytime is a free event for families visiting Fort Nelson. Bookings are not required, you'll just have to make your way to the Visitor Centre at 11am to join in. Sessions run for approximately 40 minutes.
Fort Nelson is located in Portchester, about 15 miles outside of Southampton. It is part of the UK's Royal Armouries, and as well as the storytime activities there is also a museum and grounds that can be explored. Entry to the museum is free.
