A Place for Philatelists to Fill Their Albums
To the average person, a stamp is just a sticky label with the Queen's head on it, that allows you to post a letter. But to the philatelists of the world, stamp collecting is a serious business. I should know; my dad's a huge enthusiast, and can spend hours on ebay searching from the smiler sheets missing from his collection. This inevitably leads to me having to stay glued to my laptop on deadline day to bid on the dozens of items he's spotted. Just recently, he has had a big splurge, so maybe it is all the better that he is working on the days of the next Stampex convention.
Stampex is a bi-annual event that takes place at the Business Design Centre in Islington. Entry is free, and it allows philatelists to browse over a hundred exhibitor stalls for all the latest releases, such as smiler sheets, first day covers, plus the chance to find some rare old single stamps.
My dad started collecting as a kid, and if your kids are budding philatelists, then take them along, where they can enjoy lots of fun at the Stamp Active Network. There will also be an auction on Saturday, so get your paddles ready.
