Think of the
British Library and the likelihood is you'll think of
books. There are, after all, 14
million of them at the UK's top research library, along with nearly a million journal and newspaper titles, 58 million patents and 3 million sound recordings.
But there's even more to the place than that. Throughout the year the country's most famous library also holds a wide variety of events, such as the Spring Festival in March.
This year's festival, running from 1st to 5th March, promises an exciting mix of events focusing on fashion, film and design.
Highlights include
LATE at the Library: Fashion Flashback , a party for fashionistas and fashionista-wannabes taking place in the entrance hall of the British Library on the evening of 1st March.
At LATE, expect to be wowed by "fashion shows with a twist" taking place to a funky soundtrack provided by DJ Princess Julia and Jeffrey Hinton. Visitors can also enjoy fashion-related workshops, pop-up stalls, demos by collectors, and talks given by GQ editor Dylan Jones and fashion illustrator Tanya Ling, among others.
Tickets for LATE cost £7.50 (concessions £5).
You might also be interested in checking out the
Future Shorts Film Festival (2nd March), the
British Library Market (4th March), and the
Encounters between Art and Science Exhibition (25th Feb to 24th March) comprising a range of work by artists on the Art and Science MA programme at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design.
Ease yourself into the new season with a visit to the British Library's excellent
