I think people should try to support independent local shops where possible, including hairdressers. I've been to a couple of well-known ones in Birmingham town centre in the past and found it quite expensive. When I went, parking wasn't as expensive as it is today in the town centre.

So for the last 13-14 years I've been using a smaller independent salon, Split Ends, nearer to my home. I went there for the first time because my husband went to the barbers nearby. I found the staff very approachable and friendly and they can always fit me in within a day or two of making an appointment. You can request a particular hairdresser if you wish but I've been going there so long all the staff know what I want. So when they ask they who they do like to do it I say anyone with a pair of scissors will do. If I want it a little bit longer or shorter than usual they always do so. They never try to persuade me to try different products or styles or colours, they do exactly what you ask them to.

I have tried other hairdressers over the years, but I always go back to my regular one – others don't seem to do it just as I like it. I always come away from my hairdresser feeling better than I went in, and people are always telling me that my hair looks good so they must be doing something right. So if ever you're in the area, or you fancy a change of hairdresser, try Split Ends hairdressers in Willenhall.

Alternatively find your local hairdresser and just tell them what you want. They appreciate your custom and look after you as if they go there regularly.
