The Spiral Youth Theatre was founded fifteen years ago and is passionate about encouraging creativity in youngsters. They show at least two productions a year, performed by aspiring young actors from the age of seven up (sprites are welcome too). One of their most recent performances was Throughly Modern Millie, a musical set in roaring 1920s America with jazzy songs and lots of laughs.
The next production will be The Rock N Roll Roadshow on the 12th & 13th July, and will star a throughly modern teenage cast that will take you on a musical journey from the 1950s to the 1980s. It turns out that teenagers aren't all that different now than they were back then. The performance will be held at the Charles Cryer Studio Theatre at 7pm, and tickets cost £8. You can book by calling 07790125086.
If your kids are inspired by the performance, then you might want to book them in for the Spiral Youth Theatre's summer school, where they will explore all things wizard like. When the go off to see the wizard, it won't just be The Great and Powerful Oz, but they'll also get involved with stories featuring Harry Potter, sing The Who's Pinball Wizard, and explore an African themed adaptation called The Wiz: The Super Soul Musical "Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The £120 course can be booked by calling 07790 125086, and will last between the 29th July - 3rd August.
