Food, drink and ruddy good sights
The beauty of London is that there is something for everybody. If you're after an eclectic scene then the east is the direction you head and if it's sophistication you want then head to the west end. If you're looking for somewhere to while away a sunny day, then may I recommend Southbank in London - impressive sights, delicious food and entertainment are never far away.
Situated adjacently to the south bank of the River Thames, the arty Southbank area boasts such attractions as the London Eye and the Design Museum and is a social hub for people of all ages to gather and eat good food, drink and soak up the buzzing atmosphere.
If you want to discover some of the best sights in London within a certain timescale, then the London Eye is a more than worthy investment to make. Spending roughly half an hour in a pod on the wheel, you will have the opportunity to see Big Ben from above and many other historically-significant buildings in London. Why not opt for the VIP treatment and skip the queue whilst sipping on some chilled champagne while you take in London? This is highly recommended as on weekends the queue can appear endless.
If you're on more of a budget, then there is plenty to do at Southbank for free. Street entertainers frequent the long stretch along the river and never fail to draw in crowds with their amusing party tricks. And there are some beautiful spots to sit and people-watch. And everybody loves some good old people-watching. Where better to do it than London?
There are a plethora of restaurants and bars to visit on the Southbank, from commercial restaurants to individual branches and up-market venues. The Skylon restaurant situated in the royal festival hall offers a fine-dining experience in a luxurious restaurant setting right beside the river, offering a wonderful panoramic view to accompany your food. The roast dinner served on a Sunday is exquisite and the desserts and wine moreish. Customer service is paramount in the restaurant with the staff tending to your every need. Whether it's a three course meal, a quick bite to eat or a cocktail (or two) you're after, Skylon will cater to your needs. Girls, it will feel like you're in an episode of Sex and the City.
Southbank is a thriving area of London which offers all the ingredients for a perfect day out. Whether you're out to treat yourself or looking for a cheap and cheerful day, hop on a tube to Southbank for some cultural gratification.
