The Southampton Common Easter Fair just manages to sneak into March, with things kicking off on March 29th. The fair will run from then until April 8th. There will be rides for young and old and other fun fair activities. Thursday is 'crazy prices' day, with all rides (except the Oxygen Ride) offering £1 tickets. The fair will be open from 1pm till 9.30pm on most days, and from 10am till 9.30pm on the Easter Monday bank holiday.

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt

The Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt is an official partnership between Cadbury and National Trust properties all over the country. Mottisfont estate will be hosting one in Southampton, and chocolate eggs aren't the only things to be found. The Easter trail will guide families to spot wildlife around the grounds, learn about bats that make their home in the cellarium, or get up close and personal with some of the teeny tiny mini beasts of the area. This isn't your typical Easter egg hunt, where the sharpest and quickest ends up with the fullest basket. There is some Cadbury chocolate for all, but the real 'hunt' involves exploring the nature surrounding Mottisfont and the National Trust's other history filled locations around the country.

Easter Bunny Event

Sparshot College are putting on an Easter event with everyone's favourite bunny: Peter Rabbit! There will be an Easter trail for children to follow where they'll have to hunt down Peter's carrots, and they'll also get to meet Peter and other favourite characters. Children can enjoy craft activities like easter basket or bunny ear making, while adults might be more interested in the plant sale. The event will be raising funds for the college. Tickets are available online , and once inside most of the activities are free. Buy your tickets early to take advantage of the 'early bird' pricing.

Easter Holiday Fun

There will be a range of different Easter and term break activities being held at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens over the Easter break. The Easter trail will run from March 30th till April 15th, and will allow families to explore the gardens on a self-guided Easter themed tour. Other activities over Easter include the Outdoor Adventure Holiday Club , tree climbing and pond dipping. Prices vary for the different events, so check out the event page for more details. The Easter trail is just £1.50 per child on top of regular garden admission fees.

Passion Retold

When many people think of Easter it's all about chocolate eggs, fluffy chicks and the Easter bunny. For others, Easter is about a very different message. Passion Retold tells the traditional Easter story about Jesus, his sacrifice, and what Easter really means to Christians all over the world. As well as the performance of The Passion, there will also be local musicians and talks about Easter and its significance. The event will be held at Guildhall Square, starting at 10.30am.

The Friends of St James' Park will be hosting an Easter trail throughout the Easter weekend. You can pick up a trail sheet from the ParkLife cafe and enjoy a self-guided family hunt through the park. There will be prizes for completing the trail, as well as plenty of opportunities to explore the park and enjoy the outdoors together. The park also has a playground and plenty of green space for kids to run around outside.

Canoe Easter Egg Hunt

This is definitely an Easter egg hunt with a difference. Instead of a basket and your own too legs, you'll be heading out with a canoe and a paddle. The day involves a canoe paddle down the Beaulieu River, before heading onto dry land for the actual Easter egg hunt. You don't need to be a canoeing pro, you'll learn the essential ins and outs on the day. The Canoe Easter Egg Hunt takes place in the New Forest and involves a two-hour guided canoe tour.

Sea City Museum hold activities throughout the year for adults, children and toddlers. This special activity is aimed at toddlers between 18 months and 4 years. Enjoying some arts and crafts, they'll get to decorate some baby chick pictures with feathers, glitter and more. Things can get messy, so dress in arts and crafts appropriate attire. The craft workshop is £4 per child. Children under 5 get free admission to the museum, adult entry fees are listed on the website .

We know Easter has lots of eggs, but usually you'd expect to find chickens or chocolate inside. The Southampton City Art Gallery is hosting a craft event for children that lets them craft their own eggs of a different kind. Hatch a Dino Egg is aimed at kids between 5 and 11 years old. They'll be able to make their own egg and baby dinosaur out of clay. It's a chance for kids to get a little messy and explore their creativity, but you won't have to clean up the mess at home. With Easter coming to an end, the Southampton City Art Gallery is looking for a way to preserve all your favourite Easter memories. 'Pickled' Chickens is a drop in craft workshop where kids can make their own mini chicks, and 'pickle' them for safe keeping. Bookings aren't required, you can just drop in on the day. Get in touch with the Art Gallery for more information , but it's safe to say that no actual chickens will be getting pickled.

The ABC Bunny Band will perform their Easter themed concert, Easter Bunny Hop , at Turner Sims Concert Hall on Saturday April 14th. It's a live music show with lots of dancing and folk music from around the British Isles. Tickets are available from the Turner Sims website .
