The Southampton City Art Gallery has plenty of workshops and sessions running throughout the Easter school holidays for kids to have some fun, learn a bit more about art, and perhaps even get a little bit crafty. The school holidays run from
Friday March 30th until
Sunday April 15th.
Some of these activities are special
Easter themed activities , but the school holiday program offers a variety events for children of all ages and interests.
Wire Tree Sculptures
Tuesday April 3rd, 10am-3pm
More info
Wire wrapping is a craft where wire is twisted and bent to create different shapes and designs. It can be used for jewellery and other decorations, but another popular use of wire wrapping is to create wire trees. These are reminiscent of Japanese bonsai plants, but instead of a living plant, the tree is created from many strips of wire. In this workshop, kids will learn skills and techniques for wire wrapping, and they'll be able to take their creations home with them. The workshop is inspired by the gallery's
Four Seasons exhibition . Children should bring along a packed lunch. Children under 8 will require a parent to stay for the duration of the session.
