If you haven't managed to embrace your Christmas cheer then perhaps you need to make a visit to the . The Festival is the biggest Christmas event in all of Southampton, and while it's great for families and kids there's plenty to entertain the rest of us as well.



The festival has a decidedly German theme. The Christmas market is run by Wella Markets with features designed to look like a little alpine winter village. The food has a German flavour as well, options include German sausages and schnitzels and German pastries. There are also other options like paella, doughnuts, churros, and even a hog roast. You can sip on some German beer, or for something a little bit warmer turn to the mulled wine or hot cocoa.

The stalls are filled with handicrafts that could become perfect stocking fillers. There are scented candles, tin toys, leather bags, jewellery, hair accessories, garden ornaments, and more. You'll also find Christmas themed stalls selling figurines, decorations and even Christmas sweaters and hats.



One of the highlights for families is the flying Santa show. At 5pm and 7pm Monday to Saturday and at 3pm and 5pm on Sundays Santa will fly through the sky pulled by his reindeer. It's not an illusion or light show, a real-life 'Santa' travels over the festivities in his sleigh. Sure there might be a few more wires than on Christmas Eve, but it's still a pretty cool sight for young and old. After Santa's flight, he'll be over at the advent calendar handing out treats for the children.



Aside from the Santa show, there is daily entertainment throughout the festival. Carollers and musicians will be performing throughout the day and evening to keep spirits festive.
