South West Coast Path, Somerset to Dorset

The South West Coast Path is a 630-mile-long trail that follows the coast from Minehead in Somerset to Poole harbour in Dorset. Following it the whole way, you'd see the entire Cornwall coastline.
Most of the path follows the route originally used by the coast guard when they were looking for smugglers along the coast. It provides good views as it runs close to the coastline but isn't generally the shortest route between places.
If your reasonably fit and have the free time available, a fast walker could walk the entire path in about a month, but at a more leisurely pace allowing time to take in the sights along the way could take several months.
Another good way to tackle the path would be to break it down into a series of sections, doing one a day over a longer period. You can find a good guide to doing this
here .
So, whether you're looking for a short scenic walk or big coastal adventure, you can find plenty of different walking tracks along the trail and extra information at the paths dedicated
website .
