The Social Eating House doesn't shout about it's presence with huge neon signs or flashy designed logos. Instead it sits quietly, patiently, towards the Soho end of Poland Street - waiting for the curious (or those in the know), to turn up and experience what it has to offer.
And what is on offer is very tempting...
There are three floors, and there's something exciting to the taste buds on each of them. Head to the top floor and you'll find the
Blind Pig, a very handsome looking bar which you will find hard to drag yourself away from. The order of the day is cocktails, and with names like 'Cuba Pudding', you can tell they are no run-of-the-mill concoctions. There are also light bites to eat upstairs, but for the real deal, head to the restaurant of the title below....
The Social Eating House proper has two menus - one a
'Prix Fixe', which has 2 courses for £19 (or 3 for £23) for the lunchtime, the other is the
'A La Carte' menu, which could only be termed as luxurious.
This restaurant plays with the senses with presentation being all-important. You will find it difficult to find more beautiful-looking food in Soho - so head along, enjoy, and hope that one day you will get the chance to head to the basement for the hidden '
employees only' dining area which is housed there...
