I'm discovering Southampton along with you!
Event: -
We all know the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. A beautiful young girl is ordered to death by her wicked step-mother, but when the huntsman can't bear to kill her she ends up rescued by an odd bunch of seven dwarfs. Running from December 15th till January 7th, the Mayflower Theatre will be showcasing the classic fairytale, but when it's pantomime season, you know things will be a little bit different.

Each year, the Mayflower sees over 50,000 people attending its pantomime shows. Well known stories become larger than life productions with spectacular costumes, a song or two, and plenty of audience participation.

"He's behind you!" will become "She's behind you!" with this shows villain being the Wicked Queen of course (played by Strictly Come Dancing's Craig Revel Horwood). She'll be joined by her bumbling henchmen, the Chuckle Brothers, and a team of attendants played by Britain's Got Talent's street dance troop, Flawless.

It's the job of the audience and the heroes of the story, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and the handsome Prince, to outwit the Wicked Queen and have a happily ever after ending.

Pantomime can be a lot of fun, but they can also be quite loud, and a little scary for younger audience members or people with sensitivities. The Mayflower are very understanding and can fill you in on any content that may cause concern, or you can look into booking a spot at one of their relaxed performances. These are shows that are tailored to suit audience members that may have sensitivities towards some parts of the show, so lighting, sound and performances are all a little more relaxed. These shows are well suited to people on the autism spectrum, people with sensory and communication difficulties or learning disabilities, as well as anyone else who thinks they may benefit from a more relaxed show.

Tickets can be purchased online from the Mayflower website, but don't delay because many performances are almost booked out.
